It’s been said that the main purpose of “No Pants Subway Ride” is simply to make people gather on a specific route on an assigned day, riding the trains without having any pants on, just for laughs and shock value under the control of its organizer.
However, as the word “Pants” refer to underwear In UK, this event is called “No Trousers day” there.
This community started since 2002 and with seven riders only. This number reached to 150 riders in 4 years in New York City, which police arrested eight of them due to disorderly conduct.
Charlie Todd, the man who created this even 12 years ago for the first time believes this event is just about fun and providing a laugh and a smile.
According to Charlie’s instructions, if somebody tells you you have no pants, just say you forgot, and yes it’s cold, yes it’s unfortunate!
This year in Paris, the route was from Charles de Gaulle-Etoile metro stop to Bastille. Using Facebook more than 1,200 people signed up ahead of time.
In Sydney, another trouserless group travelled on the city circle loop train and finally switched routes for a return trip to Bondi.
As participant are not allowed to have a talk to one another, the organizer asked them to insist that it is a coincidence that others also forgot their trousers.
Many more legs bared in other countries like Hong Kong, China, Germany, Sweden and etc.
